Anjum advised demotion down the list to help Rohit if his illustrious position at the top cannot provide the results he is looking for.
“So, I mean, they have alternatives; they can always look at putting Rohit Sharma down the order or not use—all those possibilities are always there. Rohit Sharma is not out of form, though; rather, sometimes you start the tournament on that good a note or that high a tone and it may affect you as a batter or player as well,” she said.
“It is thus rather natural. As and when it is an IPL or a World Cup, we are seeing a tournament. But would you wish your best hitter to be in form in a World Cup or not? And a lot of work goes into generating that kind of performance,” the former captain of the Indian women’s team stated.
Rohit failed to translate his Champions Trophy-winning style in the IPL and has not been able to establish himself in the always cash-rich competition.
“Some people bounce back from that and enter the following contest faster than most of others. Not that others find it difficult. He hasn’t got that sort of a start, but we know what kind of player he is or what type of match winner he is,” Anjum added.
